THE TEA MEETING OF EMPTINESS, CALLING TOUKO

[As the cafe door opens, the bells attached to the doors jingle.]

Azaka: Oh? Is no one here yet?

  Touko: Ah, Azaka.

  Azaka: Touko-san!

Touko: I didn't really know how to find the place, but this is Ahnenerbe, right?

  Azaka: Yes, that's right.

Touko: Setting that aside, who was it here that called us?

Azaka: I do not know. But I think that since we came here, we can listen to the radio recordings we have made up until now.

Touko: That matches with what I heard.

Azaka: You were told the same thing?

Touko: Mmm. Well, even if I was to correct the entrance to the cafe, it'd only cause
trouble for the people that work here. Why don't we take our seats?

  Azaka: All right.

 (Triumphant music plays.)

  Touko: (sighs)

  Azaka: Touko-san.

  Touko: What's up?

Azaka: We've entered the establishment. Is that okay?

Touko: Hmm. (to a waitress) Hot coffee.

Azaka: Please bring me some darjeeling tea.

Touko: I don't sense any malicious intent.

Azaka: The one who called us knows about the radio stuff. Is it the creator of that box?

  Touko: It's possible.

Azaka: What on earth is he planning?

Touko: Don't know. He made that inscrutable thing. Trying to find any hint is going to be tough.

  Azaka: That is true.

Touko: That kind of person still exists.

  Azaka: What kind of person?

Touko: Someone with the will to accomplish one thing, whom no one can understand.

  Azaka: (puzzled) Right.

Touko: Above all, people focused on magic - maybe it's not good for me to be the one to say this, but
upon examining the situation, we see that their behavior is quite baffling.

Azaka: I think I'm starting to understand.

Touko: Do you know about Schrödinger's cat?

Azaka: I've heard of that one. Was it about physics?

Touko: Okay, inside the box is a cat. Also inside is a mechanism for spreading poison. The box is sealed. If for one hour
the possibility of the mechanism spreading poison is 50%, what'll happen to the cat if you wait one hour and open the
  lid?

  Azaka: There's a 50% possibility that it'll be dead.

Touko: Then what about when the lid was still shut?

Azaka: It could be alive or dead.

Touko: Yes. We don't know. We would know if we opened the box.

Azaka: So are you saying this suspicious setup is like a Schrödinger box?

Touko: We won't know until the lid is opened. You could say that the person who opens it determines reality by
observing the content of the box.

Azaka: But we'll remember what happened in the box.

Touko: Quite so. But even if the cat is yawning after five minutes, the observer won't know until the box is opened.

Azaka: That's also true, I guess. Actually, now I don't get it.

Touko: Oh good, our drinks are here. I don't really want to talk about difficult subjects. Don't think about it too
  deeply.

Azaka: Hmm. Hmm? What is it?

  Touko: This is for us.

  Azaka: What is this box?

Touko: It was brought to this place and then the person requested that we get the box.

Azaka: It's the man behind the plot of the box!

Touko: I don't know that, but it'll probably open the Schrodinger box.

Azaka: Meaning that this is . . .

Touko: Yes, it's probably a playback switch. If we press this, we become the observers.

Azaka: An observer? In this case, wouldn't we be listeners?

Touko: Ah yes, that's appropriate for radio. It looks like I can press this part.

  Azaka: I'm kinda nervous.

Touko: Let's see if that cat is alive or dead. Activating playback.
