Elmer Studios - Sex and Violence: The DELTA years

SEX AND VIOLENCE!

Got your attention yet?

If any two words could define the madness that was Evangelion II: DELTA Invasion, those were them. DELTA became Elmer Studios' longest-lasted fanfic series when the MSTers committed themselves to doing all thirteen chapters of it. Surprisingly enough, they did, and in under a year (and across the distance of fourty-five MSTings). DELTA was legendary in its badness. From horrible writing, to horrible story, to horrible characterisation, to horrible fight scenes to horrible pseudo-religious gobbeldygook, this series had it all. But that was nothing before the might of Tom Dyron, possibly the greatest authour avatar in Elmer Studios' history.

This period contained many other classics, like the psychedelic Neon Leviticus Evangelion, the surreal Bubblegum Climax: Freefall and the indescribable Macross FX. It also featured the "Special Edition" of Fate of the Children, a "revised" version of the fanfic written by the authour as a response to the MSTing of the original version.

Then something else happened: Tango.

A friend of ours wanted to get into MSTings. So, we invited him to work with us. The end result was Tango Charlie, possibly Elmer's most insane character ever. Tango added a certain unpredictable edge to Elmer Studios' MSTings, by providing a source for completely "out of there" riffs. He also made for some very funny host segments as he entered the apartment by a variety of insane methods.

On the character front, most of Elmer studios secondary characters (Now called the "B Team") all but vanished, with only Maya Gold putting in a significant number of appearances. By episode 100, Tango had done more spots than any member of the B Team. Also, by episode 100, Rick R. Mortis (supposedly a member of the main cast) was appearing in less than two out of three MSTings...

This section of Elmer Studios is dedicated to John Barren. He's special.

The great Elmer Studios episode guide!

Episode 50: Evil Zone Instruction Manual
The crew celebrate their 50th review with a huge mess of a party. Statistics fly, rubbish piles up, and as for the TV... In the middle, a totally incoherent Playstation fighting game instruction manual strikes. Who cares? Happy 50th, guys!

Episode 51: Ten Things To Do In Tokyo When You're In An Antific
Terror strikes in the form of a highly bizzare and almost surreal (wait for this) Sailor Moon/Transformers/Gobots crossover antific. Again? Guest stars and gag references abound, the fourth wall falls to pieces, logic is thrown out the window and no-one really seems to care. So sit back, relax, have a pie (pie?) and enjoy the show.

Episode 52: Evangelion II - Delta Invasion, part 4
The "No Holds Barred" tournament is on to decide the world's greatest fighter, so naturally guess who enrolls? That's right, our favorite Invador killer, Tom Dyron. Yay. But Tom's got enough problems at the moment, trying to deal with the man who tried to kill him four years ago... And hasn't tried again since. And what's Darth Maul doing there?
Riffers: Dan, Rebecca, Tsuneo, Samantha

Episode 53: BGC: Time And Time Again, part 1
Meet Orlando. Orlando (not his real name) was the head of a major recording company until it was bought out by GENOM. Now he wanders the streets, slowly killing himself through booze. And what dooes he have to do with the story? Nothing. But we get a detailed history of him anyway. It's really about Irene Walker and her UberHardsuit.

Episode 54: Evangelion: The Good Life, part 1
Yadda yadda Isamu Mitsurugi yadda yadda Eva Pilot Yadda 5th child yadda yadda yadda Asuka Langley Soryu yadda yadda trampled by an EVA... Why do I bother anymore?
Riffers: Dan, Rebecca, Tsuneo, Tango

Episode 55: Evangelion II - Delta Invasion, part 5
More whackyness in the Delta Invasion Universe! In between attacks by the Invadors, Tom decides to form a new band. Fortunately, all his friends have hithero unkown musical talents. While he's there, he beats up a few more people, defuses a riot, shouts into space and drinks like a fish. Plus, the secret origin of the Invadors is revelled!

Episode 56: Issei Meets the Sailir Scout Girls
No, that isn't a typo. He really did call it that. And if the thought of Issei Mataloun writing a Sailor Moon fic doesn't fill you with dread, nothing will. What's it about? Well, Issei meets the Sailor Scouts (Or Senshi. It's not really clear), poses up a sotrm, laughs a lot and people die in puddles of their own gore... Just like all his other fics, really...

Episode 57: Neon Leviticus Evangelion Part 1
In an effort to prevent any further damage to Tokyo-3, NERV up and moves to Canada. No, I don't know why either. Once there, they meet the 5th Children (and huge Tom Dyron fan), Jim Beckett. Jim has incredible super powers, is filthy ritch, has an Uber-EVA and wears a headband so he has to be cool. Fetures Intense Room Description Action!
Riffers: Dan, Rebecca, Tsuneo, Rick
Written by: Jinas & Rick R. Mortis

Episode 58: Neon Leviticus Evangelion Part 2
Jim's tale takes a turn for the truly psychadellic as he is struck down with a plot contrivance! Rather than killing him, it gives him the ability to hang around with the three whackiest Bad-Asses in all NERV, Snake, Sky and Angel. Who are they? [Xellos Voice] That is a secret. [Normal] Besides which, it's just too goofy for words.

Episode 59: Cruel Lina's Thesis pt 4 It gets personal. In the midst of the latest angel attack (actually, it's an overblown pokemon, but I'm not telling anyone that) chaos runs rampant in a sci-fi convention that has nothing to do with the story (such as it is) whatsoever. Not really featuring the Slayers cast (or a plot, for that matter), but with... Special guests!
Riffers: Dan, Rebecca, Tsuneo, Rick
Written by: Jinas & Rick R. Mortis

Episode 60: Tokyo 2040 - Altered Future pt 1
A first for both Elmer Studios and SVAM - a Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 fanfic! Of course, it's a self-insertion. (Joy). Actually, the fic isn't that bad. Plus the new character is amusing, to say the least... This one will probably set the standards (and cliches) for all future BGC 2040 Self-Insertion fics.
Riffers: Dan, Rebecca, Maya, Rick
Written by: Jinas & Rick R. Mortis

Episode 61: Tokyo 2040 - Altered Future pt 2
Kelly's amazing adventures continue! Actually, most of it seems to consist of her and Priss trying to feel ach other up, which does leand a lot of weight to all those rumours about Priss. Actually, the chapter ends up adding a lot of weight to some of the other rumours about Priss as well...
Riffers: Dan, Rebecca, Maya, Rick
Written by: Jinas & Rick R. Mortis

Episode 62: Evangelion: The Good Life, part 2
Isamu's amazing... something (we're not sure what it is exactly) continues, and a number of important questions are asked. Can Isamu get in his EVA without ending up in hospital? Why does he need Shinji's help to go to the bathroom? Where is Misato getting all the room in her apartment from? What's going on inside Isamu's head? And who's speaking half the time in this fic anyway?!
Riffers: Dan, Rebecca, Tsuneo, Tango
Written by: Tim, Jinas & Rick R. Mortis

Episode 63: Tifa's Birthday
Tifa celebrates her birthday in true traditional style by having her dead rival show up and ruin it. Don't you hate it when that happens? (Looks at what he just typed in disbelief). To make things better, the authour excercises their god-like powers to kill Yuffie, who has apparently turned into a woodchuck (eh?).

Episode 64: Evangelion II - Delta Invasion, part 6
Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse - it does. A new Uberkid turns up and he's special. Ok, so he can't count, but never mind. He's also got the lowest sync ratio of all the kids, is nowhere near as good as Tom, gets beat up by an Invador in his first fight and pilots a (gasp) normal EVA, but he's still special. Oh, did we mention he's special? He's special.
Riffers: Dan, Rebecca, Tsuneo, Rick
Written by: Jinas & Rick R. Mortis

Episode 65: Evangelion: The Good Life, part 3
As of writing this preview, I've only read halfway through this chapter and can't be bothered reading the rest. Suffice it to say, Isamu gets it off to a good start by going into hospital. What a surprise. The funny thing is, he didn't get into his EVA first. There's something wrong with him, but in the true spirit of Evangelion, no-one tells us (or Isamu) what it is.

Written by: Tim, Jinas & Rick R. Mortis

Episode 66: Macross FX
A deep space exploration ship encounters an enigmatic race of aliens who turn out to bee the Brood, and try to blow them up with a solar powered superweapon. Various people randomly appear and dissapear and shout random phrases at each other. And somone whines about their singing career. Features Intense Hamburger Action!

Episode 67: Tokyo 2040 - Altered Future pt 3
The incredible truth about Priss is revealed! No, not that incredble truth. Get your minds out of the gutter. Anyway, an old friend of Kelly's shows up but is immediately set upon by the exploding dog pack. In the middle of it all, stuff happens. Plus an outragrous cameo/side reference/in-joke.
Riffers: Dan, Rebecca, Maya, Rick
Written by: Jinas & Rick R. Mortis

Episode 68: Evangelion/Slayers
Lina fires a pair of Giga Slaves at an off-screen enemy and prmptly the world does not explode. Naga is concerned about something (which is odd for her) that causes Xellos to make a random cameo appearance. Somewhere along the line it crosses over into Evangelion but we're not sure precisely where or how. This results in Lina and Pen-Pen having a drinking contest and in the end, it ends.
Riffers: Dan, Rebecca, Tsuneo, Rick, Yuki
Written by: Jinas, Rick R. Mortis & Trevor Laughlin

Episode 69: Evangelion II - Delta Invasion, part 7
At last, the Invador's sinister motives are revealed. What does this mean for the human race? Well, it means that Tom is going to play computer games, drink like a fish, talk like Steve Austin, boff Auska and run the whole damned thing. Of course. Additional dialouge by Issei Mataloun. Oh yeah, there's a guy called John in there. We think. And he's special.

Episode 70: Fate of the Children: Special Edition
As we all know, 70 is a rude number. So what better way to celebrate our 70th MSTing than with a "special edition" of one of the worst fanfics we've ever [Chris Jericho voice] ever [Normal voice] done. Anyway, it's Fate of the Children mark II, with new scenes, stuff removed, lots of typos and much, much less! And (proudly) continuing to prove that Tabris is a very, very mixed-up angel. Happy 70th, guys!
Riffers: Dan, Rebecca, Tsuneo, Rick
Written by: Jinas & Rick R. Mortis

Episode 71: Evangelion/Slayers, part 2
Eva/Slayers continues, and begins to make Cruel Lina's Thesis look like a happening thing. Lina goes to school with very, very predictable results (Gee, you'd never guess where this one was going) while a Mysterious Waiter (Gee, you'd never guess who that was) refuses to tell anyone what's on the menu. The whole point of this is to demonstrate that Slayers is dark and morbid while Evangelion is about light-hearted comedy. Whoopee.

Episode 72: Evangelion II - Delta Invasion, part 8 with short Balamb Garden Java House
DELTA Invasion continues, ad nausiem. John is still special, and he's still not doing anything. In fact, we're beginning to wonder why he's even here. So, while Tom's out hunting for the Soul Edge... er... Blade of Souls, Shinji's saying "damn straight" and John's doing nothing, you can sit back and relax at the Balamb Garden Java House. Oh, and watch out for the Midgar Zolom.

Episode 73: Evangelion: The Good Life, part 4
You'd think that Isamu's timely demise in part three would have put an end to this WAFF-a-licious series. No such luck. In fact, there's another three chapters of it still to go which means that, in true Marvel Comics tradition, he's not going to stay that way. Features non-descript angels, the multiple-choice afterlife, The Man, Isamu's relatives (Yuck, eh?) and Rei Ayanami, professional grief counsellor. And you thought you had problems.
Riffers: Dan, Rebecca, Tsuneo, Tango
Written by: Tim, Jinas & Rick R. Mortis

Episode 74: Evangelion/Slayers, part 3
A new teacher takes over the class, and promptly asks everyone their names. Who is he? That is a secret. And why is he doing this? That is a secret. And why is he only asking people who'se names he allready knows? That is a secret. And what are Scully and Mulder doing here? That is also a secret. When will the actual story arrive? That is a secret. And how long is the authour going to keep over using the one damn line? You guessed it, that is a secret.
Riffers: Dan, Rebecca, Tsuneo, Rick, Yuki
Written by: Jinas, Rick R. Mortis & Trevor Laughlin

Episode 75: Apathetic Drama Queen Rei
Why not paste the problems of teenage superhero mallrat Roxanne Spaulding onto quiet, introspective EVA pilot Rei Ayanami? Because they're nothing alike, that's why. Neither are Evangelion and the Gen13 special Magical Drama Queen Roxy, but that didn't stop this authour. No magical critters were harmed in the making of this MSTing. Everyone else was on their own.

Episode 76: Evangelion II - Delta Invasion, part 9
Nerv launches a space ship to the planet DELTA. Why? To blow it up, of course. In the meantime, Charles manages to duplicate himself, NERV is attacked by Gamera, John develops a pair of sisters out of nowhere (and is special), Nerv turns into a tour company, Tom has oxygen masks implanted - rectally - and the children prepare for a space mission by lounging around and drinking beer! And all this is before the mission is launched! Features Mr. Sun!
Riffers: Dan, Rebecca, Tsuneo, Rick
Written by: Jinas & Rick R. Mortis

Episode 77: Evangelion: The Good Life, part 5
Now that Isamu's gotten over his own death, you'd think the goofy level in this waff-a-licious fic would be down, right? Wrong. Yui Ikari comes back to life as a Chinese weapon designer who goes to work at Nerv. And there's something special about her. Just... special. Maybe it's her name. Maybe she's related to John Barren. Of course, the big question is: Can Isamu get himself killed again?
Riffers: Dan, Rebecca, Tsuneo, Tango
Written by: Tim, Jinas & Rick R. Mortis

Episode 78: Neon Slayers Evangelion
A mysterious plot device propells a random group of Slayers characters to Tokyo-3. Again. This is becoming worryingly common. This time round, its Lina, Zelgadis, Gaurry and Amelia which actually makes sense. Too bad the rest of the fic doesn't. Features Preveiws!
Riffers: Dan, Rebecca, Tsuneo, Rick, Nemian
Written by: Jinas, Rick R. Mortis & J T Evans

Episode 79: Evangelion II - Delta Invasion, part 10
It's the middle of March, meaning Wrestlemania time! Tom and his homies veg out for the ultimate showdown between good and evil! Can the the Dragon, Tom's hero, take the title from the reigning champion, the Annhialator? Who will emerge victorious from the gureling battle? Oh yeah, and some EVA stuff happens. Also features a special guest appearance by Dr. Evil!
Riffers: Dan, Rebecca, Tsuneo, Rick

Episode 80: ShinAkuma vs Vegita, parts 5-7
Mike Surbrook decided to let us have this one. Thanks Mike, you're a legend. Don't worry if you've missed any of this fic; there's nothing to see, anyway.
Riffers: Dan, Rebecca, Tsuneo, Rick

Episode 81: Evangelion: The Good Life, part 6
Isamu is still alive! Shock and horror! But there's worse... New characters (and nosy reporters) are allowed to casually wander through NERV and annoy the staff. This sort of thing shouldn't be allowed. Note: This may be the last chapter... We can't tell.
Riffers: Dan, Rebecca, Tsuneo, Tango
Written by: Tim, Jinas & Rick R. Mortis

Episode 82: Magical Fairy Princess Trilogy
Why is it that Rei allways is the hero of Evangelion/Magical Girl fics? Oh well... Anyway, a magical fairy Gendo is searching Tokyo for the three Magical Fairy Princesses (Ha!) who will use their Magical Fiary Powers to fight the evil, beer-spewing monstrosities let loose by the Evil Empire! Who is the queen of all that is nasty? Who is this enigmatic yet strangely omnipresent figure in the tux? And why is the room going around and around?

Episode 83: Evangelion: The Cyclone Project, part 1
Tango's back! Oh no... But this time, he's up against something tougher than WAFF. NERV is building Uber-Evas in their basement to be piloted by former X-Men, Wolverine and Angel. Hordes of new EVA kids turn up which causes Toji to grow all his limbs back. The Teacher goes on about Second Impact (but you knew that allready) while Auska threatans to destroy the universe! Plus the return of the Angel Naming Commitee!

Episode 84: Bubbleum Climax: Freefall Part 1
The Knight Sabers travel to Generos (Which has been completely redesigned) to confront a mysterious yest stragely generic and inept foe. Priss meets up with an old friend (They're just good friends. Really, just good friends!) as lots of stuff happens. Somewhere along the line, someone unleashes a World Domination Agenda, but we're not sure. Oh yeah, and there's an enigmatic person in a tight jumpsuit. Or maybe an enigmatic tight jumpsuit. We're not sure on that either.
Riffers: Dan, Rebecca, Tsuneo, Rick
Written by: Jinas & Rick R. Mortis

Episode 85: Bubbleum Climax: Freefall Part 2
Demmond's master plan underway as he unveils the Doomsday Device which will enable him to take over the world! His mother said he would never amount to anything, but he'll show her. In the meantime, The Knight Sabers fight lots of boomers while the incredibly inane Rena learns the truth about Sylvie and Priss. But they're just good friends, really. Just good friends. Anyway, in between acts of cliched villany, the final confrontation happens (or not).
Riffers: Dan, Rebecca, Tsuneo, Rick

Episode 86: Evangelion II - Delta Invasion, part 11
It's DELTA Theology (Not Mambo Theology, but the two are similar) as Tom Dyron hacks his way through NERV's computers. He discovers the secret of Life, The Universe and Everything, only to find that it tastes strangely like chicken. Nothing in htis fic has anything to do with Evengelion, Judeo-Christian mythology, scientific theory (or the price of eggs in China for that matter), but never mind.
Riffers: Dan, Rebecca, Tsuneo, Rick
Written by: Jinas & Rick R. Mortis

Episode 87: Evangelion: The Cyclone Project, part 2
EVA-04 turned up under a rock in Canada (Doesn't it allways?) so it arrives at NERV complete with a fresh UberKid. What an amazingly unexpected plot development that is. In the meantime, the omnipotent and obnoxius Matt raises hell in class while a mysterious omnipotent and obnoxious UberKid undergoes sych tests. Coincidence? I think not. SEELE hatches a Master Plan to destroy NERV once and for all which involves being as blatant, unsubtle and innifectual as possible. Whoopee.
Riffers: Dan, Rebecca, Tsuneo, Tango

Episode 88: Evangelion II - Delta Invasion, part 12
Featuring the dreaded FIGHT SCENE!
Riffers: Dan, Rebecca, Tsuneo, Rick
Written by: Jinas & Rick R. Mortis

Episode 89: Evangelion: The Cyclone Project, part 3
On the dark side of the moon, the Angel Naming Committe plots to destroy all of mankind. In the meantime, Matt is lewd, crude and obnoxious, but we love him for it. New EVA kids keep on popping out of the woodwork and they're all special. In the middle of a massive amout of nothing, Invadors attack! Will NERV use the Cyclone model Evangelions? What is Matt and Mel's secret? Who is the new pilot for EVA-04? And above all else, who cares?

Written by: Tim, Jinas & Rick R. Mortis

Episode 90: Neon Exodus Evangelion 1.5
While happily biking through scenic Worchester, DJ's ride is interrupted by the 5th angel, Ramiel. These enigmatic alien visitors really have no consideration for other people. NERV sends out Jon (Not John, but we don't blame you if you get them confused) who promplty does nothing! Aieee! Are we all doomed? Or can the handsome, charming, witty, sly, seductive, brilliant and above al else Smarmy DJ Croft save us all? What do you think? Plus Rick's amazing one in three absentee rate!
Riffers: Rebecca, Dan, Sandara, Gouka
Written by: Shinji, Lynxara, Jinas & Rick R. Mortis

Episode 91: Evangelion II - Delta Invasion, part 13
Finally... after all the Invadors, all the EVAs, all the beer swilling, all the fight scenes, all the toad elevating moments, all the band practice, all the jobbers, all the chokeslams, all the pseudo-religious gobbeldygook, all the damn straights, all the hell yeahs, all the swearing, all the blood, all the violence, all the sex, all the times saying that John is special... DELTA Invasion ends in a spectacular display of... WAFF??
Riffers: Dan, Rebecca, Tsuneo, Rick
Written by: Jinas & Rick R. Mortis

Episode 92: Bubblegum Curse part 1
It's after the end of the original Bubblegum Crisis, which of course means that Bubblegum Crash isn't going to happen. Typical. But never fear, three tons of authour created characters are here (including The Man and Rang) to blow up "bumas" in an incredible number of stupid ways. Somewhere in the middle of this all are the Knight Sabres, along with their buddy Fuago and just maybe a plot.
Riffers: Dan, Rebecca, Maya, Tango
Written by: Tim, Jinas & Rick R. Mortis

Episode 93: Bubblegum Curse part 2
The plot (or what passes for it) thickens! Many people (Some of whom actually have names) are chasing after the same McGuffin. Numerous Kazei 5 psychokinetics show up, which causes Sylia to change her name repeatedly. A "Buma" goes rounge before it is meant to, which causes lots of other "Bumas" to appear out of nowhere. Sylvie continues to be inane while the ADP are strangely effective. Then it ends. Maybe. And what kind of name is Rang anyway?
Riffers: Dan, Rebecca, Maya, Tango
Written by: Tim, Jinas & Rick R. Mortis

Episode 94: Evangelion/Slayers, part 4 with short The Ultimate Battle
In a shockingly original turn of events, Ramiel decides he's going to be the fourth angel and muscles his way into Shamshel's spot. Luckily for Nerv, they have a brand new eva, and it's green! An awful lot of horribly unoriginal things happen that lead to a riff on Neon Exodus Evangelion (huh?) and the chapter ending practically before it's started. Aslo features The Ultimate Battle, or how not to play Tekken.
Riffers: Dan, Rebecca, Tsuneo, Rick, Yuki
Written by: Jinas, Rick R. Mortis & Trevor Laughlin

Episode 95: Neon Mobius Files
If the whole idea of an Evangelion/Silent Mobius/X-Files fusion/crossover isn't enough to chill your bones, then nothing is. Three completely different concepts are combined to produce FBI agents Shinji Ikari (looking for his long lost kidnapped sister - guess who) and Asuka Langley Soryu. They come to Neo Tokyo to... well, do... stuff. No, I don't know what they're trying to do either. But Rosa and Asuka are apparently an awful lot alike in their utter psychotic (but adorable) loathing of all mankind. Isn't that sweet?
Riffers: Noriko, Shion, Rebecca, Tsuneo
Written by: Jinas & Rick R. Mortis

Episode 96: Evangelion: The Good Life, part 7
This fic used to be about a kid called Isamu Mitsurugi (It's based on a show about a kid called Shinji Ikari, but never mind), but sadly he barely gets a look in. Instead, NERV is seemingly overpopulated with incredibly beautiful, yet strangely pointless new characters, who apparently want nothing more than to do nasty things to each other in incredibly inept ways. Eva Otagi has been kidnapped, and surprisingly enough they care enough about her not to mount a rescue effort... or even try and find her. Fortunately, they'll be a handy Deus Ex Machina along to rescue her any minute now.
Riffers: Dan, Rebecca, Tsuneo, Tango and not Rick
Written by: Tim, Jinas & Rick R. Mortis

Episode 97: Slayers Muyo
A plot contrivance opens up in the middle of nowhere (wow, what a startling revelation that was) and ejects a bunch of randomly assorted Slayers characters. But for once, they're not dropping on Tokyo-3. No, this time it's the Masaki household, already infested with a whole bunch of authour created characters and one super-saiyan. A name changing demon shows up, but that doesn't actually matter until the end, becasue we've got to repeat the same scene a good five times before that.
Riffers: Dan, Rebecca, Tsuneo, Rick
Written by: Jinas & Rick R. Mortis

Episode 98: Neon Exodus Evangelion 1.6
The latest amazing chapter of Neon Exodus Evangelion introduces BLANK to the story. BLANK appears to fulfil his vital role of BLANK, and it's pretty clear that Hutchins didn't like him either. In fact, Hutchins makes it very clear who he does and doesn't like, returning BLANK (no, a different one) to the story, just to hand out a good old-fashioned bollocking in DJ's absence. Also features Jon (He's special) and an uncanny simulation of a plot twist!

Episode 99: Evangelion: The Dark Side, part 1
"Hi. My name's Raiu, and I'm not a dragon. No, really. I'm sure not this big, scaly, fire-breathing lizard thing! Nosir. And I don't wear board shorts either. That's right, I'm not a dragon. Got it? I'm not!"
A new uberkid shows up at Nerv by the somewhat unusual method of walking right in the front door. Fortunately, there's EVAs to be fixed and a blue haired young lass just waiting for a hero, and he applies his amazing knowledge to both. Bow chika wow-wow. But he's got nothing to do with the big black dragon wearing board shorts they spotted just this morning. He doesn't have anything to do with the ancient astronauts either (where'd they come from?), but then again they don't have anything to do with anything.
